The money trail.... What does the NUA do with money from dues?
Let's start at the beginning. To start a trade association, start up funds are needed to cover preliminary expenses, such as registrating URLs and designing a logo. Those funds were provided by the Association Founders (an energetic crew, committed to promoting the upholstery trade.)
Membership dues are used to pay speakers for webinars and to pay for the software to present those webinars. As an all-volunteer organization, the NUA uses association management software (Wild Apricot) that allows the membership information, dues, and communication systems to work together, without the need for a paid staff. Dues pay for that software. That same software includes the web page, which can be used as a clearinghouse for all upholstery professionals. Training opportunities? It's on the web site. Vendor information? It's on the web site. Looking for a job? Looking to hire? Looking to connect with other upholsterers? It's on the web site. Even if the public wants to find an upholstery professional in their area.... There's a search function on the web site's member directory. With links directly to member website/Facebook pages/Instagram accounts, the website also provides enhanced SEO for your business web site.
By having an association dedicated to the upholstery trade, it raises the awareness of upholstery everywhere.
