The NUA is excited to host an event in conjunction with the Custom Workroom Conference in Hampton, Virginia! Registration is now open!


Join us Monday, October 10, 2022 for a Field Trip to Colonial Williamsburg!

Learn about historic upholstery and soft furnishings and the preservation of historic furniture pieces at Colonial Williamsburg. Small group presentations by three staff members:

Leroy Graves – Senior Conservator of Upholstery

Tara Chicirda – Curator of Furniture

Gretchen Guidess – Conservator of Textiles

Registration includes three presentations, admission to two art museums in Colonial Williamsburg, and coach bus transportation from CWC event location (Embassy Suites Hilton Hotel & Hampton Roads Convention Center). Lunch is not included.

Schedule:
8:45 am: Meet in hotel lobby to board the bus
9 am: Last minute instructions for event - on the bus
9:15 am: Coach Bus leaves hotel for Colonial Williamsburg
9:45 am: Arrive Colonial Williamsburg
10 am - 12 pm: Presentations by Colonial Williamsburg curatorial staff
12 - 1 pm: Lunch in Colonial Williamsburg (bring your own, or enjoy one of the many eateries within walking distance)
1 - 2:45 pm: Time to explore two art museums, include the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum and the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum.
2:45 pm: Meet at the bus for transportation to hotel
3 pm: Coach Bus leaves Colonial Williamsburg for hotel
3:30 pm: Arrive hotel

10 am - 12 pm: Presentations by Colonial Williamsburg curatorial staff (All registrants will be put in groups of 15 (max) to allow for a more personal learning experience and time to talk with each presenter.)
12 - 1 pm: Lunch in Colonial Williamsburg (bring your own, or enjoy one of the many eateries within walking distance)
1 - 2:45 pm: Time to explore two art museums, include the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum and the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum.
2:45 pm: Meet at the bus for transportation to hotel

Non-NUA Members: $75
